Hello and welcome to adamhanlon.com.
As you have by now probably gathered, my name is Adam Hanlon, and my passion is (primarily) underwater photography.
I learnt to dive 25 years ago at Sodwana Bay on the Zululand coast in my native South Africa-I guess you could say that I have been hooked ever since! I used a Nikonos V underwater with various results in the late 80's and early 90's as well as film SLR's on land, but really have found my medium with the advent of digital technology in the last few years. The ability to review, and if neccesary re-shoot a particular image underwater makes underwater photography so much more accessable and enjoyable.
I am fortunate to be one of the few who have managed to make their pastime their profession. I am the editor of
Wetpixel.com, the foremost resource for underwater imaging worldwide. My role there involves sourcing, collating and updating information as well as testing and reviewing photographic equipment. I am also a PADI Course Director, and own the
Dive School @ Capernwray Diving, near Lancaster, UK. The sometimes cold but very clear water there provides an ideal venue to practise, experiment and to use as an underwater studio.
I hold additional diving qualifications from IANTD, DAN, CMAS, NAUI and GUE. My work also give fantastic opportunities for travel, and I think the galleries reflect this. Lastly, I can provide fantastic opportunites for corporate clients to get a "different" perspective on product imagery.
I live with my wife Caron (my underwater model!) in Heysham, with fantastic views of Morecambe Bay from every window of our house. We share our abode with two cats and three dogs, who also feature in some of my pictures.
I hope that you enjoy these galleries, if you would like any more information, please feel free to
email me.
